STOP THE ROCKWOOD HOMELESS SHELTER!
Phone: (503) 710-7661
Why we are Here:
THE MULTNOMAH COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED CONSTRUCTION PLANS FOR A HOMELESS SHELTER
AT 19421 SE STARK
LOCATED IN THE FORMER COOK PLAZA EMPLOYMENT BUILDING IN OUR ROCKWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD.
NO PUBLIC NOTICES, INFORMATION OR PUBLIC INPUT WAS OFFERED TO NEIGHBORS, PARENTS AND HOMEOWNERS PRIOR TO THEIR VOTE AND APPROVAL ON
SEPTEMBER 5TH.
THE 'NEIGHBORS AGAINST ROCKWOOD HOMELESS SHELTER' GROUP HAVE A FACEBOOK PAGE AND THEY HAVE SCHEDULED A MEETING ON NOVEMBER 18TH, 2024 AT 5:00 PM AT THE ROCKWOOD VILLAGE COMMUNITY CENTER LOCATED AT SE 185TH AND SE YAMHILL.
Protect our Children and Neighborhood!
COOK PLAZA -19421 SE STARK - ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE SALVATION ARMY.
THEY PLAN TO HOUSE UP TO 42 PEOPLE IN PODS IN THE PARKING LOT. THEY ALSO PLAN TO PROVIDE A DAY CENTER WITH LAUNDRY, FOOD AND BATHING SERVICES.
WE ARE NOT AGAINST HELPING THE HOMELESS, AND WE FEEL FOR THEIR PLIGHT. BUT A HOMELESS SHELTER NEAR SCHOOLS, HOMES, NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS SHOULD HAVE A BUFFER BETWEEN IT AND NEIGHBORHOODS. THIS WAS JUST A POORLY THOUGHT-OUT AND EXECUTED PLAN. SHELTERS LIKE THESE SHOULD EXIST IN MORE INDUSTRIAL AREAS AND AWAY FROM HOMES AND CHILDREN.
Call or Email or Text us and we will send you regular updates.
